In Nordic folklore the Mare is believed to haunt the realm of dreams, manifesting as a malevolent entity that visits mortals while they sleep. Often depicted as a dark, shadowy presence, she instills fear and anxiety by sitting upon the chests of her victims, causing a sensation of suffocation and paralysis known as sleep paralysis. This is our protagonist's first meeting with this entity and we get to follow along as she dives deep through the landscapes of the subconscious where the presence of the Mare looms large.
