About
I'm Petter Bülling, a cinematographer based in Stockholm, Sweden. I shoot commercials, music videos and drama, and stills for campaigns and portraits. I'm happy to travel for the right project, in Sweden and abroad.
What I shoot
Commercials and brand films for clients including Barncancerfonden, Absolut, Legora, NK and Åhlens. Music videos for artists like Thomas Stenström and Axel Ruby. Short films and drama such as Solo, The Mare and Night Games, and camera operator on the TV series Fartblinda. With the stills camera I've photographed for Netflix, among others.
How I work
A lot of the job happens before we're on set: conversations with the director, references, tests and a plan everyone understands. As director of photography I'm looking for the right images for the story, not just beautiful ones. Sometimes they should stand out, sometimes they should step back and let the performance and the feeling carry it.
I started out doing everything myself: planning, shooting, editing and talking to clients. That gave me a lot of respect for every department. On set I want the crew to feel safe, because when we trust each other we dare to try things. I own an ARRI Alexa 35, so the camera can come with me on the job.
